Walk, walk, walk is what I have heard from lots of lap band patients and the docs. I couldn't agree more. I feel better when I am active and walking around. I have this overwhelming urge to fidget. It's better than it was the other day, but it's still rather annoying. I just get this feeling I like I can't sit still or find a comfortable position for more than about 15 minutes. Must be my body telling me something, like get up a move.
Otherwise, each day I am feeling a little better, like things are healing well. I am making small improvements each day. As of today, I am on Phase One of my diet, which means that I can have a full liquid diet. I think that as I can eat more my energy level will improve, even though it is a very low calorie diet. I am glad the surgeon suggests that you do the liquid diet before hand, as it really helps you to feel normal about your eating now. That was you don't have to go cold turkey on food. Feeling pretty good, hope that trend continues!
Hi Cheryl! So glad to find your blog since we were banded at about the same time. I was banded on Dec. 11, 2009. So far all is well and I am feeling good. A little discouraged that I have been at the same weight for the last 3 days. I know I need to be patient, heal first, blah, blah. But I am excited, you know. Also frustrating is that 1 week and 1 day from surgery I feel like I could eat anything (I am scared too, which is a good thing) but Christmas cookies are so tempting! Looking forward to following your blog! Not much of a blogger myself. Was an English lit major in college and I guess burned myself out writing papers, but i do enjoy commenting. Also, just a little further West in Montana. Hope your recovery continues to go well. Mandy
ReplyDeleteI had a hard time with my energy levels on the liquid and pureed part of the diet - they even refused to let me go back to work. I have back on liquids for a couple days and found that for me it is key to add in more carbs - good carbs since they create energy (my nutrionist recommended it). I added in a few fruits to my protein drinks and it made a big difference. I think we get so caught up in making sure we hit our protein levels we forget that carbs are still needed - just not in the huge amounts many of us ate before.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments Mandy and TJ, so nice to know I am "normal". :)
